Pace University students held a protest on Sunday night to mourn the shooting death of a college football player who was killed in police shootings over the weekend.
Issued Danroy Henry Jr. (20 years) was shot dead Sunday morning after shooting at two officers from his car. Mount Pleasant, New York, police said two officers hit Henry with his car, was driving about a third of officers when they opened fire.
Police said the incident occurred after police went to the disorder in a parking lot in front of a bar shortly after 1:00 Sunday.
The officer “spotted a large group of unruly patrons” in front of Finnegan Grill in Thornwood, New York, called to offer support.
The battles to break the officers, police said, when “a car parked in the driveway of Fire” accelerated. Police said a police officer tried to stop the car driven by Henry, but in the mirror hit the officer.
Officer “ended up on the hood of the car,” according to police.
Another police officer tried to pull one first down from the hood when the car hit him as well, according to police.
Open the officer on the hood of the car fire on the driver, but the car, “he said in a fire lane heading directly towards another staff member Mount Pleasant, who also fired on the car,” according to a police statement.
Henry later pronounced dead at Westchester Medical Center. And another passenger in the car shot himself slightly.
There were some police officers 50 to fight, which continued after the shooting, according to police.
“We are beside ourselves,” said the father of Henry, Henry Danroy father, CNN affiliate WCVB TV in Boston, Massachusetts.
His father said he questioned the police version of events.
“Coach called the day a man of high moral character,” said the father.
The student organizations at Pace University in Pleasantville, New York, the lights of the fitness center at the school to the football field Sunday night in memory of Henry.
